About This Trip

The western part of the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Starr and Zapata Counties, near the banks of the Rio Grande, may yield Red-billed Pigeon, Audubon’s Oriole and White-collared Seedeater, while arid areas are home to Greater Roadrunner, Cactus Wren, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher (rare) and Scaled Quail (rare). We’ll start at a private ranch with a stunning overlook over the Rio Grande, before heading to more public areas at Salineno and Falcon State Park.
